Promise of Love Publishing

Dr. Robert L. Hollis

"Dr. Rob", Ph.D. in Clinical Christian Counseling founded Promise of Love Publishing to lower the barrier for Christian hearts to publish quality books to advance the Kingdom.  Every book passes a thorough evaluation of adherence to sound Christian doctrine and the heart of Christ.  Adhering to standard formats, you may recognize a Promise of Love book by the consistent quality.  However, each author presents their own, unique style.

Preliminary Review Criteria

Before consideration, each book receives a preliminary review with these quality checks:

1. Author’s Summary (ungraded)

We provide an Author’s Summary representing the reader’s perspective on where the author is coming from in writing this manuscript.  What personal or professional experience provides a backdrop for the manuscript?  What credibility does the author have in the reader’s eyes?  We provide a confidence level that  we project the reader would have in this author on the topic being discussed.

2. Reflection of Style (ungraded)

We provide a detailed description of the author’s writing style, including word choice, themes, word usage, perplexity, burstiness, fluffiness, engagement, and consistency throughout the document.

3. Target Audience (ungraded)

We provide an assessment of the target audience that would best relate to this manuscript.  This includes any distinguishing demographics that apply, including age, gender, religious affiliation, reading level, race, ethnicity, and country of residence.

4. Structure and Logical Flow (graded)

We provide an assessment of the manuscript’s structure and logical flow.  We will grade the manuscript as EXCELLENT if the reader is led along a logical path, GOOD if the manuscript is publishable as-is, or NEEDS WORK if the structure needs to be revised for a professional publication.  If the manuscript NEEDS WORK, we provide specific examples of improvements that must be made before publishing through Promise of Love.

5. Technical Quality (graded)

We assess spelling, grammar, sentence structure, clarity, readability, and similar mechanical considerations.  For these considerations, we provide 2 grades: Grade One considers quality at a high school level.  Grade Two considers quality at a collegiate level.  If Grade One (high school) falls below a B, we provide specific examples of improvements that must be made to raise it to a High School B or higher.  Promise of Love will not publish a lower grade book.

6. Doctrinal Assessment (graded)

We assess if the manuscript brings forth sound doctrine relative to the NKJV and well-known bible scholars.  If any doctrine promoted in this manuscript is patently wrong, we will assess this manuscript as a FAIL with explanation.  If doctrine is sound, this consideration receives a PASS for publishing.  If the manuscript has questionable doctrine, we return a set of questions to the author to clarify their point of view.

7. Grounding Points (ungraded)

We provide a list of key points the manuscript represents from the reader’s perspective.

8. Reader’s Takeaways / Instructions (ungraded)

We provide a list of take-aways and instructions the reader will likely receive from this manuscript.

Conclusion

We provide a brief, overall assessment of this book from a literarily artistic and technical point of view.
